New forum member, new owner / old Sierra

I'm not sure why, but I wanted a "real" pedal steel. Not the Multi-Kord I've been playing (with) these past several years. I bought and have been cleaning and setting up a Sierra S-10, 4 knees and 3 pedals. I believe it's a 1980 Royalty model, serial number SS010-376+80. It's going pretty well, but along the way, I've found I need a few parts. One of the pedal rod ends is broken (the kind with a spring clip that snaps over a ball). And I managed to strip out a couple of those little nylon barrel-shaped nuts on the ends of the pull rods. At some point I'm going to have to do something about the pickup. It's the one with the little switch on the PU itself. It works, but barely. This is all kind of long-winded, but I've lurking on the Forum and just wanted to say hi and thanks. I've already found the names of people to get parts from, and learned a lot about PSG reading the posts here. One more thing - there's a big "Buddy Emmons" signature engraved on the left-hand endplate of my Sierra! How special is that?

Welcome Michael. Sierras are very stable and durable instruments. I've owned a couple of 'em over the years. Once you get it set to your satisfaction, you should be good.

Try David Wright. His father built Sierra. He might know who has the best supply of parts. Use the "Memberlist" up to the right. It is in alphabetical order with first names. You have a good guitar, I'm sure the parts are out there.

I don't know if Tom Baker is still associated with Sierra in Portland or not, but in the past I have had to resort to a local hardware for parts, as well as improvise. I have a Sierra S10 Timberwold and a custom D10. I think they are very well made (I have'nt played the old Multi-Cord since my days with Sun Studios.) Our friend and member, Bill Stafford was with Sierra 7 years, and built a custom model for Alvino Rey while Alvino and Luise remained on site in their motor home. Need I say more about Bill Stafford? I did'nt know that David Wright was into Sierra steels, but that's good to know and I'll keep that in mind. I have the guitar diagrams, etc that came with my guitar if they would be of any help, let me know and I'll be glad to eM them to you. Best to you and good luck.
