Oh, and you can see too little a bit of Buddy Cage in there too. He killed the outro solo in Sugar Magnolia. We also did a duet, acoustic and steel, of Last Lonely Eagle for John Dawson. It was beautiful.

Good stuff, I like it. If you weren't so far away I would come with a couple of friends. Hope this project will be succesful. But judging from the crowd reaction on this date, it will be so.
But where are the Marshall stacks?

I used an early 70's twin for both guitar and steel. No FX, just reverb when needed. Got the Cumberland Blues sound spot on by simply turning the bass knob on the amp to 0 and playing the strat.

but on Cumberland Blues, didn't you play banjo and no Strat?
This Twin Reverb seems to very useful.
I always carried two amps one for guitar and one for steel to get a good sound.

I did the strat on left side of record for 1st half. If you listen you notice strat goes away about 10 seconds before banjo starts, which was very convenient for me to do the switch during the show. strat was a bear to get every note right. The whole show took me 6 months to transcribe, score all instruments and vocals and rehearse the band.

not bad on a shallow zerox copy level, i guess. what's missing is the real emotion of jerry's voice and the cosmic interaction of psychedelic souls which is , of course, what made the dead special.
