I was just thinking about my teen days in Denver in the 60's after I saw the thread about Capt. Beefheart, so I did a Youtube search and look what I found:

If it sounds like a bad knockoff of Purple Haze, you're right, but keep listening (if you you don't mind acid rock screaming steel)
I use to go see a band called the "Boenzee Cryque" in the teen clubs back in those days, and there was this skinny guy who kinda looked like Paul McCartney playing a weird table like gizmo & sounded like Jimi Hendrix. Actually that was before I ever heard Jimi.
Rusty Young...pre Poco

Cool!
Wow, alt. steel before alt.steel was cool!
That's quite amazing for its time. Seeing Rusty Young a few years back with Poco was - at least at that concert - quite disappointing. VERY little steel, an overly nicey, mellow presentation.... But this, WOW, I like it! Would've been nice if they hadn't so blatantly lifted Hendrix, but again, for its time, it still sounds fine.
Thanks for posting - I always love to hear steel outside the box.
