C6 (or any other tuning) chord finder

Being a lazy person, I'm always looking for tools to help me with any job,and I think this one is aces.
It's the Chord House Guitar Room over at

It's basically an advanced chord finder and one of the nicest things about it is that you can set the strings to pretty much ANY 6 string tuning.
There are settings for right handed, left handed and whether you'd like to look at the strings from top to bottom or in reverse.



You can instantly see many grips and forward and reverse slants. It will find you 58 different chords for each key with all of their positions between fret0 and 12.
I made these charts of just the "C" chords just to give you an idea.

Stan-Yep I found this awhile back and it is useful for all the reasons you said. It has helped me tune my steels to many different tunings. A very useful site.

If you check out Ricky Davis’s excellent site at www.mightyfinemusic.com he has a similar thing which covers 8 string with lots of common and not so common tunings. He also has a PSG chord finder.

In addition to finding chords for various tunings...one can also where all of the scale notes are for a particular tuning (say, Am pentatonic).

Long time pedal steeler, more recently getting into C6 6-string lap steel, and working on finding chords. Right as I was starting to do something manual on this, I found this old post, and the chord finder is still active! Check it out --- it makes finding chords for ANY tuning possible.

I like to use the studybass.com site. You can do a custom tuning for up to 12 strings (I use eight) and get all sorts of scales and chords. Easy to use and print fretboard diagrams, plus you can save as a PDF if you want to print more in the future. You can save the diagrams labeled by letter name of note or by value in the scale.
