Beginners Notes #XX-A bonus, or not...

Beginners Notes #XX-A bonus, or not...Besides it's snowing :?

Now, what’s all this hoopla about “Faux C6th” stuff (that’s French for fake, isn't it).

Well, let’s say your in the local critter club on a rainy Saturday night. You got a call last week from Big Jim, his regular fiddle player gave two weeks notice and BJ got POed and canned him on the spot. So you pull your "No Name" S10 E9th 3&4 rig out of a box in the garage to do the gig, cause your ZUM is just to perty to take out yet. New strings, a tuning and one practice, where Big gave you his set list, then ran over three old standards, “soos you can get a feel for it”. Then the band gets hung up the rest of the night trying to lock the new drummer into the kick off of Crazy Arms. Later, on stage, the rest of the Doodle Bug Review and you are full into Big Jims best Merle rendition of Willies Blues Eyes in G, when you look up to see the bass player mouth to the drummer, “let’s swing the break”. You don’t miss a beat, lock your LKL(that’s where mine is) to lower you E’s, give it the gas and give um some of this. Even worked for me once...OOMV!

Lowering the E's, some with a lock lever, is basically what the Universal Tuning does to go from E9th to B6th. Have to watch certain strings such as the 9th string.

Don and Matt, Thank you for the kind words, appreciate it.

Right Jack, even though I have don't play C or B6, I love the sound and find I can get a "Faux" sound by doing just that, lowering the Es. It of course is a far cry from the sound good players of those tunings get, but serves in the jobs I find myself in these days.

Friends there is an error in the tab, the Es should both be lowered. The tab has been corrected. Sorry...
