Live Reba

Post by Bruce Bouton »

If you go to Reba's official site you can watch a five song concert we did last week in the studio. Most of it was live as it was played. I was actually playing my Zum direct through a Roland GT Pro and an Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal. Check it out. I'm proud of the band I play with. Pretty remarkable players.

Bruce, you sounded fab. That Reba gal blew me away. One of the great entertainers. I didn't realize until I saw her live just how great an entertainer she is. She's like Dolly. In a class of her own. I have a new appreciation for her. Real class.

Nice gig you got there. I've admired your playing since your days with Ricky. I'd like to see you featured more of course. Great tone and playing the right parts like the pro you are.

Bruce, since the Aguilar Tone Hammer is marketed primarily as a "bass preamp direct box," in what way were you using it to enhance your steel guitar tone?

Reba likes a clean stage so I've had two options. Either carry ISO cabs or have a good direct rig. I chose the latter considers I'm runing through a huge pa and have my own seperate moniter mix.I've always used a boss GT pro and programmed each song seperately. When our new bass player joined the band he had the tone hammer.I tried it in front of my rig and it gave me the extra sustain and tone shaping that I percieved to be missing by not using amps.

A short while back we saw Reba in Prince George, BC. I was elated to see you playing steel live with Reba's band. The show, musicians and sound was plain and simply great. Sounded just like the cd. The energy that came from the stage was one of sincerity and feeling. Its a show we will never forget.

Bruce the first time I heard you was on a Ricky Skaggs album. I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing and the song was "Crying My Heart Out Over You". How your playing has inspired me and what an inspiration your talent has been to the world.

It was very kind of you to stop and say hello at the concert you did at the Tacoma Dome with George Strait and LeeAnn Womack. Thank you for alerting us to the Reba Site.

Bruce, You taught me to play "Mansion on the hill" with your VHS tape. I converted the tape to DVD.
Thanks.

Thanks for filling us in on this great music.
I will listen to 3 female vocalist; Reba, Connie and Some Barbara Mandrell. Reba sounds as good as she ever has and your steel contributed to a really great expression of the songs.
I've enjoyed your playing for a while and look forward to hearing more.

Yes she does! I saw her show in Lewisburg wv and was kinda wondering what kind of band I'd see. Before the lights came up all I could see was a steel guitar and a speaker/rack to the side stage left about 15 or 20 high. It was a great show! BTW Bruce what were your other two instruments. The dobro and six string. The sound was great. Don D
