Okay, y'all. I've got several pieces of news about the Jamboree that, as webmaster of the TSGA website, I've been asked about.
First and most importantly, here's the list of confirmed players for this year's show. However, we don't have a schedule of performances yet, but as soon as I know, the Forum will know. The players confirmed to appear so far are:
Paul Franklin Jr., David Wright, Sarah Jory, Bud Carter, Larry Sasser, Jody Sanders, Doug Jernigan, Mark Giles/Jerry Fessenden, Chuck Lettes, Maurice Anderson, Tommy Dodd, Jonathan Candler, Herb Steiner, Mike Sigler, Dick Meis, Johnny Cox, Ronnie Miller, Joan Cox, Bert Rivera, Eddie Ortego, Lynn Owsley, Dicky Overbey, Randy Beavers, Albert Talley, Herby Wallace, Jerry Newberry/Austin Stewart, Russ Hicks, Jimmy Grabowski, Janet Lynn, Denny Mathis, Buck Grantham, Bobby Dixon, Joe Wright, DeWitt Scott, Jody Cameron, Billy Phelps, Akira Kobayashi, Rev. Wayne Smith, Al Brisco, John Hughey, Jim Evans, Herb Remington, Curt Shoemaker, Chuck Back, R.D. Davis, Del Mullen, Frank Carter, Fred Justice, Louie Hallford, Bill Stafford, Bobby Bowman, Jerry Brightman, Ralph Mooney, and John Buffington.
Next, Chuck Lettes will be hosting a NON-PEDAL SESSION on Saturday from 9am to 2pm. This will be in the seminar room with stadium style seating and will run concurrently with the main show. The admission is free. There will be 20 minute sets by a variety of non-pedal players. Perhaps Chuck can fill us in with more details.
The Harvey Hotel DFW will have a name change by the time of the event (March 9-12), since the hotel was purchased by Westin. However, we don't know what the name will be and they ain't tellin' us yet. But the name "Harvey Hotel DFW" will get you there regardless.
As things develop, I'll be filling the Forum in with more info. Stay tuned.

I can hardly wait. I took a new pedal steel player last year and will get to do the same this year. This is definitely one event I look forward to. |

Thanks for the update, this looks like a great show. I'm hoping Roy Rosetta is well and will be there. My only dissapointment last year was that Reece did not play steel, tho he did a good job on bass. Glad to see he's on the lineup.

Thanks Howard for your kindness and concern. I'm feeling and doing much better. The Good Lord has blessed me and I'm "on the mend". I'm certainly planning and looking forward to being in Dallas, as usual, to see all of my friends, like you, and to work with all the great steel guitarist and musicians on the the TSGA show.
Thanks again for your concern....see ya in Dallas.

Joey, I'm told as of a couple of weeks ago there wasn't much interest in the dobro seminar and it might not happen.
If this is true, let's drum up some interest in it, as I want to attend also.
Herb? Update? |

Herb, Thank you for your EXTRA EFFORT for the Texas Steel Guitar Association.
BRING ON THE DOBRO INSTRUCTION !!
Seems Reece A. put up a thread not too long ago about how these techniques will enhance our pedal work. Check it out?
Why not!
Thank you Albert and Herb.

Herb,
Do you know if the Joe Wright Seminar at the TSGA is one where you bring your guitar or a paper based seminar ?
Thanks in advance

Thanks Herb for the info,
I am hoping that some of the vendors who will attend the show will be reading these posts,I tried last year to buy some Tee shirts and found that most sellers had only one size....no small,no medium,no large no xL only xxxL.
I have been trying over the festive season to put on a few pounds and am still way short of the top size.
See you there

Herb, my eyesight must be failing, because I do not see Jim Cohen listed on the show. I looked at this post and at the TSGA site. I know you do not set up the show, but there must be a way to lobby Albert to get him on? [This message was edited by Jon Jaffe on 31 January 2006 at 10:20 AM.] |

Fred
Lord willing, Tom and the TWTophands will be there this year as usual.
Jon
The unfortunate fact remains that there are only 51 performing slots in the Jamboree and there are way over 51 players that want to play. There are generally some last minute cancellations for one reason or another, and then players who are in attendance can/are called upon to fill in. But at this stage of the planning, for someone to be added to the show means someone else must be cut from the show, so to make someone happy means making someone else pissed off.
This is the main reason why I'm relieved I don't do the booking and scheduling. And you should be very glad you don't have that job either.
