Rob Parker' funeral service was Special

The service for Rob was special, there was no sermon, a friend of Rob sang Precious Memories, after that the next 45 minutes was spent haveing people talk about Rob an his life. What a great way to honor his life, His family told stories an then some of his Navy buddies told stories. A few of his Steel guitar friends got up an talked about Rob. But the best part for me was when Bobby Reed got up in front an read his poem by memory, spoken from his heart with true feelings. Very will done Bobby this was very Special. We open with a prayer an closed with a prayer.

Hi Jerry;
It was nice meeting you and thanks for the kind words. We'll all remember Rob I'm sure. However I have another thought I'd like to share concerning the memory of a soul lost.

How long would YOUR memory last
if you should die today?
How many folks would truly grieve
if you should pass away?

How many friends would miss you
like they've always said they would?
Who would want to bring you back then
If they really could?

Would those who share your laughter
find smiles had turned to tears?
Would they say great things about you
when the days had turned to years?

Would those who owed you money
be glad that you were gone?
Would someone write about you
in a story or a song?

And if you should die a pauper
is there one who'd pay the bill?
To have you put away
and carried to some windy hill?

Would someone build a monument
to always bear your name?
Would things you left be souveniers
or sold in rummage sales for gain?

The richest people on this earth
are those that have true friends
Who'd hold your memory in their heart
until they reach the end.

But the strongest memory seems to fade
with time as years slide past
So if YOU were gone...friend how long

Measure a man by the friends he made while passing thru this life. Count them one by one and the total will speak for itself. Rob, my friend, your total speaks loudly to proclaim the fact that i know of no other that touched so many lives in a short space of time you was with us. Enjoy your reward, you deserve it. You will be missed greatly.

It is very fitting that Rob's service was special.
Rob served his country for 20+ years as a US Navy Warrant Officer and served mankind through his songs and acts of kindness.
He was a special human being.
