The Texas guys, Jim Loessberg, Dicky Overby, Rick Price, Bert Rivera, and one of the most underrated steel players in the world in my opinion is Scott Walls. I grew up watching him play. His speed picking is out of this world. But he also is a monster on 4/4 shuffle's and western swing. He's a wonderful player that you rarely hear about.
Emmons P/P's into the loudest amp I can get ahold of. No effects other than reverb. EVER!. Come catch a show and be sure and say hi!

I like everybodys playing. I try to pick up little things from each player I see or listen to.

The players that inspire me the most through there teaching are (in no particular order):
Basil Henriques
Frank Baum
John Ely

More personal heros for their playing and musicality are:
Rod King
Dickey Overbey
Greg Leisz

And all those soulful hawaiian players everybody should listen to IMHO
Barney Isaacs
Jules Ah See
Billy Hew Len
Feet Rogers
Andy Iona
Bobby Ingano
Henry Allen
Owana Salazar
Gabby Pahinui (as a steel player)
George De Fretes

Just my 2 cents...

The 2 players that inspired me the most when I started was and still do is .
Clyde Mattocks
John D. Williams
John was the smoothest steel player I ever heard and Clyde is a monster on anything and both are great guys to.

Tommy,
I apologize for the multi posting, even though I think it's not really my fault. When trying to send a reply a "debug" error message popped up. But the message was posted on the forum. I thought, error so try to repost, what I did several times...
And it's not only me that suffer from that forum bug. Another forumite told me he had the same error yesterday.
Joerg

ps. here is the full error message:

Depending on your definition of "unsung".

Paul Brainard
Dave Harmonson
Dan Tyack
Larry Behm
Jon Hyde
Stu Schulman
Tucker Jackson
Earnest Bovine (Doug who?)
Susan Alcorn
Chas Smith
Im forgettin some of you.... sorry.

I think Chuck Campbell is criminally underated but wouldnt call him "unsung".

RR is unsung on this forum too.
You guys should be loving him. He does for the psg what you constantly beg for, to make it popular again and even better and more importantly...he absolutely kills on the instrument, undeniably...and you guys ignore him for the most part or complain he doesnt use his pedals. :?
