I found specs & info on the Jensen Sica Neo 15" 250 watt & 350 watt speakers on the internet & Ken Fox's web site. The description on the 350 watt says it has a fatter low end & more balanced articulation than the 250 watt. Just wondering if anybody has compared both speakers & could give a performance review on them. I'm trying to decide which one would be best for my Session 400.

I haven't really compared the two, but I checked out the 250 watt version.
As a rule, higher wattage speakers usually have less high frequency response. It sort of gets diminished in the larger voice coil.
The 250 watt Sica has plenty of low end.
The Session is only 200 watts anyway, right? |

Thanks for your great reply--you really opened my eyes about other possibilites. Yes, the 400 is rated at 200 w. rms. My situation is I have a Session 400 & 500 set-up in my home studio. I switch off between the 2. The 500 excels in the bass & mids, where the 400 excels in the highs. I guess I had a performance test bed of sorts all along & didn't realize it. It took me a while, but I really warmed-up to the 500. BUT, it dawned on me that each has it's own PERFORMANCE ENVELOPE--sort of speak. I realize now that I can't make the 400 sound like the 500 & vise versa. Each model was designed to operate in it's own performance area. In other words, I shouldn't be thinking in terms of trying to make the 400 sound like the 500. So, am I right in thinking if I put the 350 w. into the 400, it may DIMINISH, rather than enhance the performance values that were originally intended for it? |

I would tend to think so. To get a more accurate view of the two SICA models, contact Ken Fox.
He sells them both and will let you know the strong points of each speaker. |
