Which model is the 1.25 pickup in? If it's in a bakelite, some of the bodies have imprints where the 1.5" pickup brackets holes are to be located. Of course the bracket holding the 1.25 pickup has to be cut off in front of the bridge, to retain the back piece which the strings are attached to.
Nothing wrong with 1.25" magnets, and my current bakelite 7 string has those. I don't intend to use 1.5" magnets in there purely for looks.

primarily for the bass players who've been deprived
all these years, but of coarse for retro for guys like you.
