My Marlen "keyless" S-12 is now operational.......

Awhile back I made a deal for an old Marlen keyless S-12 steel with 4 FP and 4 KL. The body was in great shape as well as all the mechanics but I didn't feel proficient enough to tackle setting it up as everything needed changing except the A & B pedals. It had been originally made for a small person and had short legs and pedal rods but the guy gave me some standard length rods and legs and that made it OK.

I took the guitar to Orange, Va. to Billy Cooper's steel shop to get it in working order and I'll have to say that Billy did a superb job on this guitar. It was short a couple of bell cranks and rods to make it work with my copedent. Billy didn't have any but he made some that look almost like the originals and this guitar works like a new one which is "broken in".......

I have a strange copedent on it but since my BMI has 8 FP and 5 KL, I just had it set up like my pedals two through five and eliminated the verticle knee lever change. Here's a couple of shots of the guitar and the copedent I put on it and the one on my BMI for comparison........I've already got two gigs with this guitar under my belt........JH in Va.
