Here is a great song recorded by Ray Shannon, and Lonnie Coots is singing it... me and the band are out in left field on it but, Never Playing It Before, when you have to come with something you make do!

Hey Mike, that sounds great.

I always love when we get a guest singer on the stage. They are usually 80-90 years old and say, Ok Folks, here's one I wrote in my early years. Wow, we have NO clue.

Then the singer says "kick it off Bill". I usually ask what tempo and what key. Then I hear, "just start it anywhere, I can sing in ANY key."

Yeah, right.

Mike that was super! It is a lesson in backup -as you said - on the fly. You made it sound like it belonged in that song. IMO, very convincing.

Mike, That was a Great Job. With the bunch of Good licks you put in it, I'd bet that there wasn't one person in the audience who had a clue that you didn't know the song.

Bill, When you get one like you mentiioned, wouldn't you just love to break out on a Red Hot Boogie takeoff? I been tempted, but haven't.

Wow, Mike, I am refreshing myself with Jeff Newman's "Up From the Top," lesson on fills and solos.
Hope this will be taken as a compliment, because you "put the rubber on the road," making what Jeff was teaching a living, breathing piece of great musical talent. Love your music. Thanks and more, please.

I want to Say thanks again to Mike and his Band for letting me jam with them the last set of their show.if you ever get close to the place he plays you got to go see him,he puts on a great show ,great steel work as we all know but a great singer and what a showman he is ,we were in stiches with his comedy stuff and amazed at his abilty to sound like so many country singers.all while playing the steel too.What a talent.
