Anyone had personal experience with these?
They look nice, especially for an entry level guitar.

Bob Simmons builds these and they are great steels
Bob is a wonderful player and builder. And great to do business with.

Since I first posted this thread I've found & read some threads about Bob & his steels. Sounds like a quality guy with a quality guitar.
I pulled the trigger on one last night on eBay.
Looking forward to getting it.
I'm a green newbie, & this Genesis sounds like much more than just a starter steel!!

Just a little note.Bob built me a steel in 1976.
I played this steel for 30 years in clubs and including out door/ indoor venues.I never had any problems.I played N.Y. to Miami and this is one steel that stood the test of time.Thank You Bob. He has always stood behind his product.If you buy a steel or have a steel built or rebuilt by Mr. Simmons,you have one of the best.

Bob builds a great steel. See my avitar <<<<< I can say that it stays in tune and stays in tune. I have two and have just swapped this one (I call blue clouds) for my D10 at the club I play in and will play it while I get my D10 lubed and the oil changed. lol

Simmons PSG

I am a new student of PSG (less than a year). I bought a Simmons SD10 on the Forum. I can tell you that I love this guitar. It stays in tune forever, has great tone and is built very well and to last. Overall it is solid. I have a guitar that Mr. Simmons had constructed for himself at one time. It isn't a beginner or student guitar but it is smooth and easy to play. My two cents worth.
Mullen SD10 pre RP, Milkman 40w mini steel, Wet reverb mono, Profex II, Yamaha keyboard, lots of books about music theory and PSG.

Ron, you have made a very wise choice with a Simmons PSG. It's a good guitar at a great price and it is all you will ever need. Here are pictures of mine.

Thanx for the input, Duane.
Man that thing is nice lookin'. I love the blue cloud look on those.
Mine's more of a black marble look, which I think 5'll like a lot.
So far I do. lol

I wanna thank everyone for all the helpful input.

"the genesis (soon to be known as the semi pro ) are a upgraded pull / release tunable at end of guitar"

From what Bob told me at the time, he only had enough mica to build two of the blue cloud looking guitars. Those would be mine and yours. Mine has his white logo and yours his black logo. I had some extras put on mine. I have the half stop on the RKR, 2d string and I have adjustable legs on it as well.

I think the secret ingredient is superglue. Seems like mine stays in tune so long there must be something holding it there. lol

I bought a steel from Bob about 6 months ago. I'am pleased with the sound, it stays in tune very well. There is one thing that I'am not happy with. The head stock or where the tuners are is not straight. I did not notice this until I got home and have not had time or taken the time to talk to Bob about it.I think this is a really good guitar but you asked, and I told.

You mean that it's slanted where the tuners are mounted?
I saw that on the pics, but no one who owns one expressed any concern about that, so I didn't question it.
But, I do wonder how/if that affects the string winding, etc... :?:

Not really Ron, the pieces that the tuners are mounted to are not straight. They are alum. bars and they are not mounted straight to each other on the frame of the guitar.
