If you want a look into Buddys sole, go to the Lineman link on youtube and give a listen and look to a tune called "L' Hiver Sur. Oh my goodness!!!!!!

Fred, I don't want anything to do with Buddy's "sole" - I have absolutely zero interest in his shoes!
Oh sorry, you meant his "soul" - here it is:

Tommy White's version of this song is the best version I have ever heard. I also saw him play it live at the ISGC in 2002 that was equally awesome. He was playing that gray Carter and I saw how that performance really moved Bud Carter to tears. He loved it as did we all.

Buddys Soul
Mark. My bad. it was a real Low remark was it not.
Sorry Fred
Sorry Fred
Another 'Jimmy Webb' Cover = Phoenix
'Cowboy' Eddie Long does a superb version of Jimmy Webb's "By The Time I Get to Phoenix" on Cowboy's CD entitled "I've Been Everywhere,Man"
And while you have that CD in your player, do not pass by Cowboy's rendition of "Ghost In This House"
Each are very worthy of your listen.

'Volcanic....' has disappeared, seemingly for ever!
I wish the folks at Ray Charles' company would reissue ALL his early albums in their complete form! I'm fed-up with half-hearted compilations where the omissions are at the whim of whoever is doing the editing. Ray had any number of fine LPs in the '70s/'80s, yet they're not on CD.
And.... Buddy's solo on 'Feel So Bad' is just amazing! How Ray must have enjoyed his playing! A fine album, but only available on Ebay on vinyl...

Check out the link below. It's a boxed set called "Ray Charles: The Complete Country and Western Recordings"... supposedly all the country and western stuff from '59 to '86. I have it and it's great! Doesn't have "Feel So Bad" though. It does have a great booklet that comes with it. There's one quote in there from Ray about Buddy's playing on one of the songs... I think it was "I Wish You Were Here Tonight". Needless to say, Buddy knocked him out.

That's the problem! It's a nice collection, no doubt, but some of the 'Volcanic...' tracks are missing. Mind you, 'Volcanic Action...' is far from being a 'country' album ('I Feel So Bad' certainly wouldn't qualify!), so it's understandable in that case.
I just want them to reissue all his old albums as they were.
A kind Forumite burned me a copy of both 'Suite Steel' and 'Pacific Steel Co' (a similar compilation); I'd far rather buy these things on the market so that everyone receives their due compensation but, when they're unavailable, one has no choice.
Stand-out tracks for me were BE's 'Wichita..' and JayDee's contribution - I'm still trying to get close to both performances almost forty years later!!!!

Roger:
you can purchase the entire 'Volcanic Action' album here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027D ... sr=1-2-ent
I think "See You Then" might be my favorite track off that album. It's another Jimmy Webb gem and Ray's arrangement is just classic. should have been included on that 'Complete C&W' box set... Buddy just shines.

Thanks, Scott, but I'm still so rooted in yesterday's technology that I've yet to embrace the notion of MP3s, ipods, or anything that isn't a tangible product I can hold in my hand.....

Man. There is no doubt that few pickers can pour as much soul and emotion into the steel the way Buddy can. One thing I feel I have to point out is that that tone he's got there is something I think you can only get with an Emmons push pull, those glorious rich highs that just go on forever...
Thanks you guys for the first thread I've been interested in in quite some time. That Suite Steel album really is a must listen for everybody on this Forum, so inspiring.
Love all you guys
Gerald
