PeeWee Charles - Western Swing Authority

Post by Bent Romnes »

Had the time of my life last night.
I caught a ride with the drummer in WSA,
Charlie St. Denis and went to the Commercial Hotel in Maryhill where Ed (Peewee) was playing with the Western Swing Authority.

Let me tell you, steel players and Western Swing lovers, you are in for a treat when you pay Maryhill a visit.
Those seven people have put together an impromptu band worthy of the highest honor.

For 2.5 hours we were treated to the finest quality Western Swing favorites.
Well-loved songs like: Stay All Night, All of Me, Miles and Miles of Texas, and Cherokee Maiden were second nature to seasoned musicians like this fine group. When Stacey Lee started singing Sweet Memories, I am not the least ashamed to admit..that brought on the tears. Not only that, but I was transported to the Station Inn with Dawn Sears and John Hughey - a magical moment for yours truly.
This won't be the last time I make the trip - for sure!

The WSA has a CD and I got myself a copy (signed)
The Western Swing Authority consists of:
Ed (Peewee Charles) Ringwald - Pedal steel
Stacey Lee - vocals
Shane Guse - Fiddle, vocals
Dan Howlett - Fiddle, vocals
Matthew Lima- Acoustic standup bass
Charlie St. Denis - drums
Paul Chapman - Lead guitar
Buy their CD here:

I wasn't too lucky with pictures this time around. Not one acceptable pic of the whole band but this will be sure to come down the road.
In the meantime...heeeres's PeeWee!
