Okay, this is probably not for many on this forum. But if the movie/documentary entitled "Crossroads" featuring Eric Clapton at the Crossroads Festival in Chicago this June happens to be playing at a theatre near you, do not miss it.
An early guest on the show is Robert Randolph. Okay, he plays a pedal steel guitar but I did not see him ever use the pedals.....so might qualify this entry in "Steel Without Pedals" .
You will see steel guitar playing up close and personal on as large a screen as you will probably ever see a steel guitar being played. Great close-ups and camera angles too.
Here is a url.

Check out the movie! They will issue a DVD sometime later. |

Kay, works for me in this section! Cool to see he brought Robert Randolph back. He has done several of the Crossroads festivals and opened for at least one of the tours following the festivals. I think he had Robert with him at The Hollywood Bowl a few years back, don't remember, must have burnt those brain cells! Huge energy from RR and the Family Band.
Always great DVDs of these shows too. The DVD usually airs in HD on Palladia about the time it is released. I'll be watching for it.
As an aside I was fortunate to be at Clapton's concert at the Pond in Anaheim (now Honda Center) when the "One More Car, One More Rider" show was taped. Playing that DVD really brings back the memories. _________________ On man....let the smoke out of another one. |
