" Sleepwalk" Bishop R.P. Hall

Post by Bishop Ronnie P Hall »

Hi all of my fellow steelers!,
Well, here I go again, with my version of "Sleepwalk". Now I know that this song is the "Holy Grail", of the lap steel community, and every lap steel player, none-pedal steel, slide steel player, plus quite a few pedal steel players, on this forum, could eat this song up alive. Also, they probably have memorized every note, beat, bar, measure, nuance etc. Never the less, I had to put my .01 cent in, and at least "try" to play it too! So there! I said it! :D
By the way, that is me playing all the instruments on the background track. As always, it is still another challenge to be met, bcause I coud`nt find a decent backing track any where. At any rate this is a versional rendering, and it`s not perfect, and neither am I, ;-) so I hope somebody enjoys it.
Be Blessed!

Nice job, Reverend! Sleepwalk is one of my favorite tunes. I really like it in your signature style. Yours is a style that can be instantly recognized. Great job!

Hi Rick (Barnhart)!
As usual, I`m sorry I`m late in responding, but never the less here I am. Thanks for your encouragement, it means much to my efforts. However, I don`t know if I have a signature style, but whatever it is, I just play it, whatever comes out! But it is good to know it has some kind of style? :? I guess? :D Thanks my friend! Be blessed!

John, as we both know, music always comes from the depths of our soul. I`m just glad to know that you, and a lot of others, can feel what we are trying to do when we play. What a joy!!! Thanks my friend for your encouragement, it means a lot! Be blessed!

Hi Doug!!! (Beaumier)
Man!!!, I am deeply "honored" that you checked my little effort out! :D My friend, your playing has been greatly inspiring, and one of the many reasons I had even tried to play this rendition. I`ve heard your version, and it too was greatly inspiring. I truly thank for your encouragement, it means much. Be blessed my friend!

Great. As you say, everyone does Sleepwalk, but you've put your own style into it, instead of copying Santo & Johnny, and you've created something that is 100% Ronnie. :D

I love it. 8)
