I like it - it's an easy way to share photographs, for one thing. I also enjoy on-line Scrabble with various and sundry 'Friends'.

Yeah I'm on there, but getting more disenchanted by the minute. It all seems so childish when people want you to join farmville or some silly thing like that. Or they want you to 'like' this or that.
The 'friends', well, you hook up to some that you never hear from again. So much for friends concept.
But then I hate to just get off there and never be seen again.
Peter Nylund, what was your reason for quitting?

I found it great to catch up with school friends that I lost touch with. I litterally quite school and went on the road as a musician at 15 so I hadn't seen or talked to any of my home friends or school friends since then. It's been great for catching up but I agree with everyone on the Farmville junk! I grew up on a farm... I sure don't want one now!!

Re: Are you on FaceBook?
I'm on Facebook in a limited way -- all my privacy settings are pretty much maxed out and I only friend folks I actually know. Its really the best way to maintain a connection with my high school and college friends (all on the opposite coast), and also all my jamming buddies and ex-co-workers.Delvin Morgan wrote:How many forum members are on FaceBook? I would not even consider sharing original music on FB. Their corporate M.O. is to assume they can do whatever they want with what you post, and I just can't go along with that...

Bent, I feel that I'm addicted to too many things. Women, steel playing, red wine, good food, steel guitar forum and the list goes on and on. I know many people almost live their lives around Facebook and I did not want to be one of them. Perhaps it was the wrong choice to leave Facebook behind. Maybe I should have stayed in there and quit picking steel instead?Bent Romnes wrote: Peter Nylund, what was your reason for quitting?
I know my playing is a bit pitchy, but at least my tone sucks

Peter, oh no!! You did the right thing! All those things you call addictions are life necessities , esp. red wine and steel. But Facebook..nah. You can live without it.Peter Nylund wrote:Bent, I feel that I'm addicted to too many things. Women, steel playing, red wine, good food, steel guitar forum and the list goes on and on. Facebook is the main way I am able to keep in contact with friends and family. Not sure what all the negative reaction to it is about. But I learned when my one niece found out she was pregnant, my other niece got married, and if any of my friends are in from out of town. I've reconnected with old friends from college and high school and old work mates who I haven't heard from in years.

I keep in touch with some friends I went to school with on Facebook, but I mainly use it to keep in touch with family, friends, and fellow musicians. I've got a fan page too because a lot of my musician friends have 'em, so this here steel player can have one too. My fan page is Brett Day-Steel Guitarist. Everything on the fan page is steel related and one good thing about Facebook, I'm friends with my favorite host on CMT, Katie Cook and I'm also friends with bass guitarist Michelle Poe.
