I was at the Rickenbacker website www.rickenbacker.com and I noticed that they are now producing a Bass guitar with the horseshoe pickup. Maybe this pickup will work and maybe they'll sell you one.

BTW - I emailed Rickenbacker and asked if they are considering reissuing the Frypan.
They replied that there were not immediate plans to do so (big suprise).

Contact Jason Lollar at lollar@aa.net. I've been hearing very good things about his work.

Still looking around w/ NO luck..oh PS to PD...I checked the original patent for the magnet, the ends are orientated N and S...but N is above the strings and S is below the Coil on both treble and Bass side, so they CAN be interchanged,
Aloha,
Mike

Rick Turner uses faithful reproduction in his Model T, I am told. However, I can't get Rick to answer me when I ask if he sells the pickup seperately. Good luck
