I once owned a BMI D-11 made for me by Zane Beck, and it was one of the best sounding steels I ever heard. That's a great price, especially for someone who cannot afford to pay $4,000 for a Zum or an Emmons. Someone should jump on this deal.

Dennis, its hard to tell from the pics...how many k levers? Do you happen to know the year, or likely period of manufacture. Dont know much about BMI's. Interesting construction. The one's with neck rails screwed to the changer produced certain years? I'd imagine little or no cab drop with that comb style changer shaft support. How's the pedal action on these horns? boy, i just have a bushel of questions.
I've heard of a dual finger type changer on BMI's, is this one of those or a scissor?
sorry bout the pedal action ?' that's probably an annoying question. ignore it if you wish. :)

Steven, just let me add my 2c. about a year ago I got to work on a BMI - I helped a friend change his over from Day to Emmons. From working this close with a guitar I got to know it pretty good and today I have a new found respect for BMI. They are solid in their simplicity. The flat wide cross shafts with the bellcrank plates mounted on top is to me a stroke of genius. I am convinced that Zane Beck was a genius innovator and builder. You will not be sorry if you should get your hands on one of these. The tone is great and all its own sound. I think the tone relates a great deal to the old ZB's, which to me stood right up there with the Emmons PP.

Dennis, that guitar is in excellent shape for a 76! Has it been restored?

Yes, Jesse, you thanked me. Also, I guess you can say there's a 3200 pound "Thank You" sitting in my shop...in the form of a milling machine!

Bent thanks for the info and commet. This ios a great steel and easy to work on adn it is not been restored that I know off. Great shape and sounds fantastic and easy playing for sure. someone will get a nice d+0 for the price of a single, don't know why it is still on here this long except the economy.

Dennis, I enjoy commenting favorably when I am sure my comments are accurate. The BMI has "workhorse" written all over it, and it shows. It has stood the test of time through how may 1000's of hours gigging?
Just look at the way Zane Beck built his Zb's and listen to the tone. BMI has Zane written all over it. If I could afford it I'd buy this one in a heartbeat.
$1400 is a steal, no doubt
