New Clip of the Week 05/30/10

Post by Walter Stettner »

Good Morning,

Here's a clip from 1968 where I am not absolutely sure who the player is. I have a strong tendency but there are two possibilities. Take a minute and listen:

Nevertheless, good old Country Music!

Enjoy the music!

Kind Regards, Walter

Yes, it is Bonnie Owens, but is it Norm or Moon on steel? Sound makes me tend towards Moon. :)

Walter,
The tone does sound like Moon, but the style doesn't. Maybe Norm?

I would guess it is Norm Hamlet also because of the style and it might even be Jay Dee Maness or Tom Brumley on steel.

The tracks for this album were recorded between 1965 and 1968, this track was recorded in 1968, I think that Norm was already with Merle Haggard at that time, so it could be Norm, but the tone sounds a lot like Moon. Still unsure about this one... :)

i say mooney absolutely from the harmonics, hammer on/offs, the 7th dives, the high BC pedal equivalents using both feet and the ending
