adjusting pickup on emmons legrande 3 with counter force

The two machine head screws where the springs are to go is screwed into the body. The plate the pickup is to be mounted on won't fit in because of the counter force.The George L that was in there was just screwed in to the body with no springs or plate.Are all Legrande's like this.Can anyone help Gerard Drury

I've had to slightly notch the counter-force connector in order to put new pickups in from time to time. Really not a big deal to do.
