Some hot non-pedal steel here from 1958:

Sounds Emmons-esque, especially a lick at about 1:35. Is it?

Brenda Lee's: "Little Jonah (Rock on Your Steel Guitar)" Recorded May 15, 1958 Bradley Film & Recording Studio, 804 16th Avenue South, Nashville TN
Owen Bradley producing for Decca. Buddy Gene Emmons: Steel Guitar (w/ Grady Martin and Hank Garland on electic guitars)

In the video: "Steel Summit With The Masters" Hal Rugg tells a great Owen/Buddy Emmons story: Hal went in to do some work for Owen and after they were finished Owen took Hal back to his office and played him some Brenda Lee recordings with some "wild" steel guitar. Hal guessed it was Speedy West and was surprised when Owen told him it was Buddy Emmons. In May of '58 Emmons recorded 4 songs for Owen and Brenda. "Jonah" is the only recording where the steel is auduble. Either the steel was mixed down on the other 3 or there are more cuts that weren't released. The other 3 that were released were: "Ring-A-My-Phone," "The Golden Key," and "My Baby Likes Western Guys."

"Jonah" is a prime example of Emmons' early Nashville session work. For perspective: only one month before, on April 16th, Emmons cut ("I Got) A Hole in My Pocket," and "Me and My Big Loud Mouth" with Little Jimmie Dickens for Columbia - Don Law producing.
