What's the diameter of these knobs? I'm dealing with a guy who says they came in two sizes, 1" and, believe it or not, 7/8". Which is the right one?

I measured the radio knobs, the ones with the arrow, on my 1937 B-7 and they are 1 1/8" measured from the bottom. Maybe they changed them depending on the year...but I doubt it Exclamation

Thanks, Gary. Just out of curiosity, what does it measure across the top?

They are 3/4" across the top.

The ones I have look like this. The one on the left is turned upside down to show the measurement...

...also check out this recent thread and what Harry Sheppard has to say about Ricky knobs...

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=181489&highlight=radio+knob

Harry says,"Be sure the base is 1 1/8" in diameter as they came in many different sizes and they fit a 1/4" solid shaft with a set screw."

I'm glad you posted pictures, Garry. The knob I'm looking for is actually the octagonal knob that Harry mentions first in that thread.

Hey Garry!

Where'd you come up with that Pica Pole? I haven't seen one of those since way back when, when I was still setting type by hand. How time flies!

I have two different knobs:

The smaller one measures 1 1/8 inches across.....
Most nearlyl 1/2 inch high.

The second size measures just a hairline under 1 1/2 inches across and a tad taller than 1/2 inch.

Both accomodate 1/4 inch shaft.

The larger ones appear to be the type Jerry Byrd used on his Trot-Mor steel guitar.

mine seem to be close to 7/8 on the narrow top.
