I am about to have a trigger finger problem operated on.. it doesn't bother my steel playing but it interferes with my 6 string string playing.

Anyone even have this problem ? Third finger left hand..

A few months ago, I had trigger finger surgery on that same finger plus my left thumb. It was day surgery with just local anesthetic, so I was awake and able to drive myself home afterward.

The surgery wasn't completely painless, but it was helpful to be able to flex the joint during the surgery, so the surgeon could be sure he got it fixed right.

I think I only needed two of the prescribed pain pills, and felt pretty good by the next day. :)

Thanks Jim, that is good to know..
It will be out patient too.
I am not sure if it will be a local anesthetic (I hope so ) but they asked me not to eat after midnight tomorrow night.
I figure a lot of ice and I should be back playing in a couple days.

Patient: "Will I be able to play the steel guitar after the operation ?"

Surgeon: "Of course you will."

Patient: "Great, I never could before."

Bo, I was allowed to eat and drink, so they may put you under instead. I didn't need any ice, but was told to keep it dry for three or four days.

It's done, four stitches in the first crease of my palm. I'll rest it for a day or two from my steel and maybe a bit longer for guitar until it loosens up ..
