Esperanza Spalding. She embodies everything beautiful about music.

Good choice Mike. I hear her here on jazz radio in Buffalo. She immediately caught my attention as she clearly is a superior talent and has "it". Great jazz singer. This is the music I listen to when I am not listening to Hawkshaw Hawkins which is more than half the time. I love her sound.

You guys don't dig this? Wow, she knocks me out. She is the bassist in Joe Lovano's band, as well. Very serious talent here.

She is an exceptionally talented young lady!! And the music is very well done. I like to hear this sort of thing occasionally, and realize that folks that can play it are brilliant, but I prefer an old country song, or an Alan Jackson song for my steady diet of music. I think its partly because I dont understand this music. Thanks for sharing the videos. I appreciate it. Leigh

The following is info I've previously posted regarding Esperanza Spalding:

Esperanza is a 'breath of fresh air' in modern jazz. To a certain degree, vocally, she reminds me of Astrud Gilberto:

Keep on pickin'!

She's one of the headliners at our local jazz and blues festival the last week of July, I really look forward to her concert!

She's going to be about six miles up the road from me at the Healdsburg Jazz Fest on June 11. Unfortunately, money's pretty tight in my house these days, don't know if I can pull it off.

My entertainment budget may be shot for awhile with The Desert Rose Band coming through the area on May 30, and I'm not missing those boys!

She's fantastic! I love her music. She always radiates joy (backed up by serious musicianship). She was already a breakout star when she was here at Berklee.

There are a few up and coming young mandolin players there now who are gonna knock your socks off when they start their pro careers.
