Ron,
That's some real nice steel playing --on Hawaiian War Chant, no less -- in the second clip, though the steel player cannot be seen at that angle.
Very encouraging to see the locals honoring one of the greatest Hawaiian male vocalists.
Mahalo for posting.

It's all Casey, Josh. Jeff and Scott only got short bits with their respective groups.
I feel this tribute, which is also the 50th anni of AA's death, should have gotten a much bigger promo, and had a prominent room in the hotel just like Alfred had. This will probably have been the last major celebration of him as some of that era's few remaining entertainers will have passed on in another ten years.
Here's a rarity never seen before and one you'll probably never see happen again - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDzvQs_e3gE&feature=channel |

RON...The quality was fine ! Mahalo brah for sharing. It was so nice to see Hiram playing his usual great guitar...wonderful chords .. hasn't lost his touch at all!
And what more can be said of Nina ? The greatest vocalist to come out of Hawai'i in my opinion. She was HAWAI'I CALLS !
Casey did a fine job on his CANOPUS. Awesome as ever.
Thanx again Ron...really appreciated ! |

Mahalo nui, Ron, for bringing us video snippets of the 50th anniversary of Alfred Apaka's passing.
What a pleasure to see some favorites helping in the commemoration, i.e. Nina the songstress of Hawaii, Robert Cazimero, Hiriam and Casey Olsen, Gary Aiko and others.
I would have liked to see more, but I enjoyed what I did see.
Aloha,
Don |

Aloha Ron & Mahalo, for posting these videos on the Steel Guitar Forum.
This is the first time that I've seen NINA appear in a video.
I wish I could have attended this celebration.
