I have a Li’l Izzy that I use sometimes on my steel, the problem... my instrument jack is on the back and plugging it in puts it in my way when I play, can this be plugged in to either of the pre or post EQ patches on my Nashville 112. Since its built to be plugged
into the instrument,if you could use it in one of these... would it plug into the send or
return? I am thinking in the return, any thoughts?

The Lil Izzy is designed to be plugged directly to the guitar and provide isolation and impendence conversion to feed whatever else you use.
Using it in some other point will either not make any difference (if something is already a low impedence signal) or could cause problems because of the impedence conversion.
I would avoid using it in an effect loop, as that is not what it's designed for. |

Jack,
I was afraid of that, I may have to relocate the input jack on the guitar.
Thanks for the help.

You could use a 1 foot cord between the jack and the preamp, not enough capacitance in a cable that short to worry about. A male right angle jack on one end of the cable, that end would go into the guitar jack, then a female 1/4 inch jack for the preamp on the other end.
Then use some kind of leg clamp to mount the preamp to the leg. _________________ Scott Swartz

I've plugged mine into the input side of a volume pedal before with the same results as plugging into the guitar. _________________ A couple of guitars

This was great, in no time at all, three responses, and my problem is solved. Don’t you just love the forum.. Tried it through the foot pedal and it works, have a leg clamp so I will also make up a short cord too. And with Jack's info I know to not be trying to out wit the folks who built it. Jack, Scott and John..
thanks, fred |

When I was using mine I did what Scott did as I didn't like the thing hanging out in the breeze. Should have had a base w/90* like the old BossTones as it is really meant to see the guitar signal first. |

Your right, it really needs a 90*plug, that would keep it close to the guitar, I feel like I am watching out
for it more that I am letting the music flow. I am putting together a short cord too. For now to get my settings I have it plugged into the volume pedal....
Good hearing from you.

If the L'il Izzy is plugged into the input-jack of the volume-pedal, it is connected backwards! But, I'm not sure if it matters which direction the signal flows through the unit! I don't doubt that the signal passes through the unit, but; I'm not sure how the signal might be altered by the unit being hooked up backward! Maybe there really is no ‘backward’. I do remember that I was told by the builder years ago that you can plug one unit into the guitar and one unit from the other end of an unshielded cable into the Amp.-input for noiseless operation. _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

John, thanks for you thoughts, I really should stop looking for toys that give me a better sound and just
keep plugging away. I have never owned an amp that I understood well enough, to search out the different possibilities for getting a good sound. Its always more of settling. Enough sputtering, thanks again. Have a great one.

I really like the way the Lil' Izzy makes my guitars sound. But I don't think there's any other way to use them except plugging it straight into your guitar, or getting a cable with a female end. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Mike, that's exactly what I did with mine when I was using it. I had it laying next to my VP and a short cable right in from there. |
