Well maybe not that triumphant...
My shufflin' country band, The California Rangers is gonna do a one time only (until the next time) return gig at McCabe's Beach Club, (now called "Larry's") in Oceanside CA next week on Friday, April 2nd, 4:30 to 9PM.
It's probably gonna be uncomfortably packed like sardines, but that's the whole point. We're going back in there after being "let go" last year from our long successful weekly run due to typical money/new management issues, and I for one want to show them how badly they blew it by giving us the old heave ho. Of course they already knew that since it's been dead in there ever since. When we were there it was like the home of Real Country Music in So. Cal!
Come on down and we'll thumb our collective noses and have a good old honky tonkin' good time with Tom Bohren, Bobby Ryan, Mike Silver, Jim Doherty, and me!

Rick,
You guys will no doubt do your normal "fine" job with the "all shuffles all night" format" that made it such a special place to hear real country music played by players who know how to do it right!
I'll be playing in Santa Barbara on the 2nd and will have to miss out on the chance to thumb my nose at them, so you'll have to do your twice!!!

Rick - Great news. Have a super time. I'll be up in SB that night, listening to Jim E. ...and maybe hitting Pitas Pt. on Sat AM.
Anybody in the N. SD County area, come on out for one of the best bands in So. Calif. and a darn good time. I hope this becomes a regular event real soon. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

That's excellent Rick. After they realize the big mistake they made, and beg you to play again, jack up your fee's!
I do believe the Mrs. and I will see about getting up to O'side to see you. If a couple more sardines will fit ... |

That's great Will! There's probably gonna be a couple steelers in there "getting in my kitchen". Gerry Dawg Walker will probably sit in on my axe, which is amazing to me, since I couldn't play his I'm sure.
Yup, it's gonna be a zoo! |

So how was the party, Rick? Sorry I couldn't make it, lots on my plate right now, but I considered it! Usual suspects show up to dance and drink? _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

Hey John...Yes, ALL the usual suspects were there plus about a hundred. The place was packed to the rafters! The band sounded great, and everybody had a great time!
Our pal Jim Palenscar brought Greg Leisz in to make me nervous, and of course Gerry Dawg Walker came in to give me some pointers also. I kept telling them how good I used to play.
I don't know if they'll have us back there or not? I'm sure they were blown away with the crowd, but I really think the owner just doesn't get it. I wanna do what Will J. suggested and get our price up to where it was, but somehow I doubt if that will happen. The place is really a dump and I'm thinkin' there's gotta be somewhere else around here that will give us a home. |

You oughtta shoot for MORE $ than you made there, especially after bringing in a crowd like that, Rick!
If the owner is that dim, I wouldn't waste my time.
I bet you could work out a good deal with a local lodge, put on a private club gig every Friday, they'd have business they never would have had, you'll have a regular place to play. Between you and Pali, you should be able to scout a few places.
So sorry I couldn't enjoy the fun times! _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION
