What A Wonderful World

Post by John H. McGlothlin »

I have loved this song ever since I first heard Louis Armstrong sing it so I wanted to try it on the C6 tuning. Hope you enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/user/d10msaclass ... NMZ-ycvvB0

Did you notice that someone jarred a spring reverb at about 3:44? True live music sounds. You also don't get many extended solos like that in recorded music, or front men who seem to even notice a side man is there. That was great.

Thank you very much Bobby. I have been playing around with this video camera for a while now and when I want to create a video, the program that I use won't play the audio along with the video so I have to mix the audio track in at the right time before I mix it. The camera and the movie program all have different formats so they all have to be converted and then mixed. Thanks again.

Interesting history of that song. Armstrong loved the song and agreed to sing it for scale. Larry Newton, head of ABC Records stopped by the studio when they were recording it hated both the song and the arrangement so much that he threatened to shut down the recording session right there and then. They finished recording it but Newton killed the promotion on the song, and it sank like a stone. It wasn't until it was used for the soundtrack of Good Morning Vietnam, years after Armstrong was dead, that it became a hit.

Hi John!
This is one of my favorite songs as well. You`ve done a beautiful version of it. I had recorded a version of it in the style of sacred steel, and maybe someday, I might post it, but for now, I want to enjoy your beautiful version. Keep up the great work you are doing, it is a good one! God bless you my friend!

Thank you very much Ron. I can remember hearing that song the first time and it touched my heart the way that Louis Armstrong sang it. I look forward to hearing your version of the song and I'm sure it sounds great as all the songs you play my friend. Thanks again and God Bless.
