Just received a home made DVD in the MP4 format and can't get it to play on my fairly new Lenovo.
Do I need to download some kind of software or decoder…any recommendations?

The K-lite codec pack will do it to, in addition to what's on the list Roger linked to.

So to elaborate a little: if you want the stuff to play in Windows Media Player, get a codec pack. If you want it to play in Quicktime, which is a pretty good and simple player, get Quicktime. The same goes for VLC (in fact, I always have VLC on the computers I use, it does everything). If you want iTunes, you can get iTunes, which comes with Quicktime.

Thanks for the help! Smile
I downloaded QuickTime from Apple to specifically play mp4's on. It was free where as some of those sites wanted to download their toolbars and search engines and charge you for it at the end.
I can open the DVD now but the problem is that I can't get it to play without jumping around on both the audio and the video. Confused
