Western Swing 1950----Bob Wills &Tex Williams

Post by Roger Shackelton »

Here's a 2 part video, featuring Bob Wills & Tex Williams.

Does anyone know who Bob's steel player is? (Bobby Koefer?)

In the 2nd video it sounds like Tex calls out "Play it Curly". (Curly Chalker?) I believe that is
"Thumbs Carlisle" next to the steel player. )

On the Tex Williams clip, that might have been Wayne Burdick on steel. Definitely Bobby Kofer on the Wills clip.

Definitely not Thumbs . . .
Possibly Cotton Whittington

I'm pretty sure the Lap Guitar player was Dickie Phillips. He also played the fiddle the same way.
Somewhere back in time I got to play a casual with Dickie playing Lap Fiddle. Great Musician !
