Test! Test! Hello everybody
Hello everybody! I am checking to see if everything is working properly with my first post on the forum. My name is Paul Martin, and some might have seen me on the Marty Stuart Show (The Apostle Paul Martin). Or you may remember me as the lead singer/lead guitarist for country/pop group Exile from 1988-1994. I have played steel for Kathy Mattea as well as keyboards for her. Played bass for the Oak Ridge Boys 1998-2002, then bass with Steve Wariner 2004-2008. I have known Marty for 20 years, so it was a thrill to join the Fabulous Superlatives a couple of years ago.
Everybody in our group is a die hard country fan, and we are all pretty well- versed on Country Music's rich history. Our aim is to keep traditional country alive and well. The TV show ratings are proving to us that we are not the only ones that feel that way!
I wanted to join the forum because I do play steel, but I also wanted a way to communicate with folks who I hope will appreciate what Marty and the Superlatives are doing. I know a bunch of folks on here already, and hope to make more friends on the forum. Looking forward to being a part of this site!

"Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."
We need to turn the TWANG up a little
It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.
They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head

Welcome Paul from Buffalo, N.Y. Come join us here. We'd love to have your opinions. I started a thread in the Music section. Marty Stuart show, The Best. It is my belief that Marty Stuart and The Superlatives are the torch bearers for country music. I've opened for them twice before you were in the band. What you are doing every week is a breath of fresh air for all of us out here. I purposely got RFD T.V. to support Marty and The Superlatives. Gary Carter is doing a superlative job back there on steel. It doesn't go unoticed here that Marty has had Katon Roberts on the show. We love what you do. You are a superlative multi talented individual. Tell us what we need to do to get the show on for a solid 1 hour. Great to have you here. Tell Marty we love him and appreciate what he is doing and supporting steel guitar. Again, welcome to you here. Ya'll come in.

Tell Marty and the rest of you to keep it up.

Hi, Paul ... from the Dallas/Ft Worth TX area, a warm and hearty Welcome to the Forum.
I've always enjoyed and admired Marty Stuart's music and always liked to refer to him as a musician's musician. They don't come any better.

The marty Stuart Show
Paul: Welcome to the Steel Guitar Forum; We know you will like it here very much; And I know that many of we forumites love the Marty Stuart show and nearly every-one whom is an active part there-of. Really good Country music like we all admire a great deal; especially Gary Carter on his Zum Steel. Please urge Marty to allow Gary to play an instrumental now and then. Too much lead guitar, in my opinion. But over-all we love what you guys are doing for the old classical country music a whole heap..Bernie

Welcome, Apostle Paul! I've seen you live with Marty twice here in St. John's at the Holy Heart theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to your input on our always interesting threads!
