***UPDATE**** The weather forecast for Lakeland, for Sun Feb 7th is 64 degrees. They revised the long range forecast. They are predicting rain on and off most of this week.

For those that are staying in Florida for a couple of days after the show, our Florida Steel Guitar Club's monthly jam will be Wednesday evening (5:30 PM), Feb 10th at Catfish Johnny's restaurant (where we had the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame fundraising show about 5 or 6 years ago). Lake Panasoffkee is at exit 321 on Interstate 75 (about an hour north of Lakeland). You all are welcome at the club.

I also do a weekly "jam show" at Catfish Johnny's on Tuesdays. He has a "Florida Cracker" fish fry, that includes cheese grits, that starts serving at 10:30am and the show starts at noon. If any of the show Steelers wants to pick they are welcome to play my Franklin (Emmons setup).

Anyone who's staying at the Calhoun's "Ranch" in Leesburg, Catfish Johnny's is about 20 miles west.

I just got off the phone with Haywood. Jack Doughterty, John King and I will be the "opening act". We will each do a couple of solos and then do some round robins.

I'm bringing Bernie Waldon and if it's OK with Jack D and John he will pick bass on our set. I was going to bring him for my set but Haywood mentioned he could work with the 3 of us if we wanted and he is going to have a bass amp for him to use. Bernie can sing some if we want.

Hi everyone, I spoke with Bill Mack on "Willie's Place" on XM and Sirius Radio yesterday morning and he said he would give a plug about the Steel Show, I also talked to Dallas Wayne the afternoon DJ on
"Willie's Place" and he said he would do the same. :D

Can't wait to see you all there, Linda and I are on the way down now, and spent the night in Pensacola.

Well, I'm loading the wagon and getting ready to motor on down to sunny FLA. I am really looking forward to seeing a lot of new faces and meeting some new friends at the Lakeland show this weekend. Looks like all the talent is lined up and should be a lot of fun and good pickin'. Please come if you can....

We've been having some rain but the forecast for tomorrow is 70 to low 70's. Sunday is mid 60's but no rain.

I'll be using my POD XT and the Tommy Dodd leg mounting bracket. Anyone using a POD XT should get one of Tommy's brackets.

Well, got everything ready to head south, gonna leave here bright and early in the morning. Change of plans though. My wife was gonna make the trip, then couldn't, so I'm bringing my buddy Bob Strickland. I hate Cindy can't make the trip, but....well, Bob picks and sings a whole lot better than her anyway.

See ya'll there.

Jim,

Bob may pick better but she is a lot easier on the eyes. Hate she can't come. Looking forward to pickin' with ya. We're heading out around midnight tonight as I want to get through Atlanta before morning rush hour. I hope to get there shortly after noontime. It looks like rain all the way. See everybody there.

See you Sunday.

Great show! I had a great time there Sunday and would like to thank Haywood for inviting me to pick on the show. Without slighting any of the pickers - and they were all great, Wally Murphy and his band did a an outstanding set.

Here is the only picture my wife took yesterday. It's the Florida Steel Guitar Club group, Jack Dougherty on the left, John King on the right and me in the middle.

It was about 45 degrees, as I watched the space shuttle take off this morning, from Playalinda Beach, Fl, @04:14. Back to normal temps, soon I hope!brrrrr,
unfortunately I missed the steel show :(
Hopefully there'll be another close-by, in the spring !
