I've noticed a couple individual solo musicians out there using electronic looping effects for their acts. Both use classical stringed instruments and with the pedals created huge orchestral sounds and arrangements.

So, I wonder if anyone is doing this with pedal steel or lap or whatever. Any ideas?

There are a few examples of this kind of thing on YouTube. Use 'steel guitar loop' as your search string. This one is one of the best in my opinion.
I have never used a loop station but I could very easily be tempted into buying one.

Regards, Allan....

Thanks. Right. These aren't quite what I'm looking for yet. These seem more jammy and less music oriented. I wonder if there's something more avant garde or arrangement-based?

I'll keep looking.

Hi, Solomon ... I don't know if the bit of sampling (or, looping) that Buddy does in this video is what you're searching for an example of, but here's a link ...

... Buddy Emmons playing "S.S.Cool" and he does some sampling right around the 4:59 mark. Smile

Another steel guitarist working with looping is Megan Hickey, working under the band name The Last Town Chorus. There's something about the steel guitar that lends itself well to such experiments, in my opinion.

Dave Easley does some of the most amazing looping I've ever heard. I sat in him for a few gigs the last time he was in Seattle, and everything was looped. I can't find anything on youtube, but you've got to check him out the next time he's playing near you.
