A Couple Of Standards

Post by b0b »

I play with a band called The Burnside Scramblers. Yesterday we set up in our rehearsal garage and ran everything through a mixer into my little Zoom H2 recorder. Here are the results:

Let's Fall In Love

After You've Gone

I'm playing my Desert Rose S-8 (D6/G copedent), and using the "Record Out" jack on my Mesa/Boogie Maverick. The lead guitarist did the same with his Boogie amp. There were 4 live mikes in the room, so I'm sure there was plenty of bleed all around.

Comments and constructive criticism are welcome.

HI b0b,

Nice recording. The sound seems to be very well balanced.

Your DESERT ROSE PSG sounds great. 8)

b0b: Were you using the same guitar on the other thread, I Love To Tell The Story ?? At first I was thinking it was your Williams but this has me wondering...

And yes, I have to agree with you on how some of those changes grab this or that person (player...). I used to really like the similar change in Tennessee Waltz.

Regards, Paul

I thoroughly enjoyed both cuts, b0b ... everything sounded great and I enjoyed finally getting to hear you play. :) Very nice, indeed.

The gospel songs were done before the Desert Rose arrived, Paul. I can't say for sure whether that one was done on the Sierra or the Williams, but in either case it was an Extended E9th.

After adjusting the controls, I tend to get a similar tone no matter what guitar I'm playing. I set it to make the sound I like to hear.

These jazz tunes are improvised around the melody, chord progression and our band's arrangement. I tend to tread lightly in them unless I'm soloing. During my solos I pick harder and pray a lot. :)

Thanks for the compliments, everyone.
