Mickey, while it's stripped down, is there any way to widen the pickup slots to accommodate today's modern, wider pickups? Could that be done by you or Mullen with any older Mullen?

Mickey, a quick question from a rookie. What did you soak the changer in?

Would it be ok to flush the changer with Rubbing /Isoprpyl Alcohol? This seems to clean up some of the other sticky/gummed up parts underneath pretty well. Thanks. Todd

I have used brake cleaner, and carb cleaner. As long as the changer is OFF the guitar!

Micky, you are making a ZB guy like me want to own one of your reconditioned Mullenzez. Great work! I guess we will have to start considering you the Greg Jones of Mullen restoration.
Have a beautiful night in Texas.

To answer all of your questions...I sleep just fine..My days are completely task filled betweeen books videos flying, teaching, and now refurbishing. After 2 weeks off flying around the country, I was ready to get back to work though!...As for the changer cleaning...im using a "gun scrubber" aerosol first..this can be purchased at Wal Mart, or any gun store. I don NOT recommend that you use any caustic materials unless the changer is completely removed. After this initial stripping, I use the ultrasonic at 170 degress for about 8 minutes. While the changer is still hot, I oil it with a light spray oil, and work all of the crud from between the changer fingers. If binding is still an issue<, i will remove the center pin and fingers individually, and sonic clean them again. I spend another 30 minutes or so removing anything not removed, by hand..Only then is the final lubricating with jet engine oil done..Mick

I'm using EXXON 2380 Turbine oil with very good results. It has no detergents, is a clear synthetic, and is so light that it permeates all of the changer fingers, and anything else very easily. It can be purchased at any FBO serving corporate turbine and jet powered aircraft, at airports everywhere. It costs about 17.00 per quart which should last you a lifetime.

Micky, Give me your take on the pre RP and HWP Mullen guitars. Seems like I already know ! They are great sounding and playing guitars.
I have a HWP and never plan on selling it. My wife will when I'm dead.
This is my second. I had a 89 and now a HWP. You can't beat perfect.
Thanks

What can I say Bill...Im a G2 guy, as Im sure you know. ive been playing Dels Guitars for 14 years now. There are some 3000 Mullen guitars in the field. I have always been a big fan of the older ones, and I am currently in possession of 3, 2 of which are for sale here on the forum. I would like to refurbish as many of the older guitars that I can get my hands on...Just for fun...Im a Mullen Man all the way...

To Dick: that is a pic of Marlon Brando from "Apocalypse Now," in which he famously utters those words: "The horror!"

Good post, Jeff Evans.
Very Happy
