Danny, that's some great work you put into the site. I love the Photos section. Studied those pics in as much detail as possible. I only had one wish - that they were screen size!

I marvel at the work that Gary, you and the others perform. World class guitars indeed!

I was also pleased to see David Hartley's copedent. Always wondered what his LKR did ;-)

Thanks Bent...

I thought about making the pics bigger, but we are pretty swamped here with orders and that was about all of the time that I could spare for now.

Rains SD10

Post by Des Hetherington »

Hi Danny, I have a 2006 Rains SD10 and have noticed that the A pedal is making a clunking noise as it nears the bottom of its travel, have had a look underneath but cant find anything that is making that happen, also found when i press the A pedal the C pedal moves a little bit on the floor, although it dosnt affect the pitch or tuning, appart from that it plays and sounds fantastic. cheers Des Hetherington New Zealand

Hi Des

Post by David Hartley »

Des, Thats an easy fix.. Tighten (clockwise), the 2 tension/return springs on the 4th and 6th. These are adjusted with the 'philips' screws on the changer end-plate. I would try 1/2 turn on string 4 first and then string 6. It is also possible it is string 9. A small drop of lubricant between the rockers will help too. You will see whether its 4,6,or 9 if you operate the A pedal while the steel is upside down in its case, the click will be visible by watching closely at the above mentioned string return tension. I an sure you may have had this question answered already by Danny if he has seen this posting. Many Regards, David Hartley

Also Des, it is normal for the C pedal to move slightly when the A is depressed.. Its because C operates string 5 as well as the A pedal.

David, Many thanks for that info, I did just what you said, plus put a drop of lube on the steel shaft that holds the actual pedal on the pedal bar, now it is smooth and the clunk has gone, and the string raises smoothly with out eratic movement to its pitch, David your palying is just stunning and love listening to your you tube clips, im wondering if you make dvd instruction vids, i would love to be able to learn some new stuff, being in New Zealand and hundreds of miles from any other players its just listen and try and figure out how its done for me. the Rains has a great sound and i just love sitting down to it and tinkering, many thanks again Des.
