Pictures as attachments

When I recieve photos in an attachment, open them & hit print, I get a really nice picture about 6"x8", yet if I right click on the picture & save as-- then I find the picture in a folder, & print it, the picture is grainy & terrible even if I call it up in Paint Shop..
Any Suggestions.??

you are most likely saving the thumbnail image.

Thanks Brian, so how do I save it without it being a thumbnail???

John;
Please tell us what email client you are using and what photo viewer program opens when you double click on a .jpg in those email messages. Also, what is your OS?

Aside from that, if you are using a standard email client, like Windows Live mail, or Outlook Express (deprecated), when you get a message with an attachment that has .jpg files, right-clicking and saving them normally does so at full size. But, if the sender has composed the message as a Windows Live Slideshow, or Photo Email, the actual full size images are stored on a server in the cloud. What you have in the email message are only thumbnails. But, if you run the slideshow, or open the image in the default Windows image viewer, it is downloaded to a temporary directory, from whence you can save it.

So, next time you are looking at one of these photos in the default Windows image viewer, just look for the File menu item link to save the file.

All you have to do is take a picture, upload it to your computer, resize it with something like Irfanview (free) if it's too big, and attach it to an email. Unfortunately, casual computer users often don't know how simple this is, and get ensnared in the picture management "features" of Yahoo or Comcast or whatever and their stuff gets lost in the cloud.

Is there a list of attachments at the top of the email? Can you right click and save from there, or maybe click a save button? Like everyone is saying, the preview image might be smaller than the real one. But there is almost certainly a way to save the real one.

OK, I use Yahoo as my e-mail.. When I get pictures, I get a bunch of thumb nails across the email. What I've been doing is right click on the thumbnail & then I do a copy & paste to where ever I want the picture.. If I left click, then it asks me to download, it scans for virus, then a box comes up (Open or Save) & I get a big picture & I can view it right there, but I want to copy it to a folder so I can put them onto a DVD as a slideshow in the future..

Then you will need to download all of the full size images, save them to a folder, or sub-folder of your choice, then use a media player/organizer that will create a slideshow on a DVD. Most PCs that have a DVD recorder also have software to do just that. Search through your Start Menu > Programs.

If you have no installed slideshow creation application, here are some Google search results to look through.
