Your recording goes through the roof - is too distorted, to really hear and enjoy your playing. Might be a good idea to do it over again, and leave a little headroom on the audio-tracks. |

Much better! Only seems to touch the roof ever so slightly on a few occasions, and that's ok for such a recording.
Now I can hear what you're doing and what you're trying to do. Nice sound, mostly in tune, and the phrasing was pretty good in places. |

HI BILL,
I didn't hear your first recording, but your second recording sounds very good to me.
It might sound better on a SHO-BUD.

William, you might consider being a copy cat, your playing way over some of these guys heads. I love it.
You shoud work on using the first string raise every five seconds, then you can play on the new country pop/rock records.
You din't have to apologize for anything.
My visions anyway.

I will be the first to admit that this thing was not perfect. Before some of the later posts I was thinking that this tune as I played it sucked. I listened to it over and over and if it did suck, that meant that now not only could I not play but I can't hear either.....because it sounds pretty good to me and after the last few posts to a few others also. Even If I do say so Myself. So thanks so much guys for the nice words.
Shawn I think there are tab for this tune, but not exactly as I am playing it....William Litaker |

You can thank Lloyd, Weldon, Hal, Buddy, Dickey, John, etc... for causing all this confusion. Somebody should have told them that everyone should play alike.

William, your version is as good as any IMO ... it just had to pass undistorted so we could hear your playing. Unintended distortion in the sound-chain destroys everything - at least to my ear.
Your version sounded good, and only you know if it came out as you intended. I don't compare versions and settings - wouldn't know how, and to my ear there were only a few times where intonation sounded slightly off, and the same with timing/phrasing a few places. I meant nothing negative by saying so. |

Good tone and technique, but it sound a bit too clinical for my taste. If you play a bit with your timing, you can squeeze more feeling into the song. _________________ ----------------------------------

I can see that I misunderstood. The great thing about YouTube is that you can post a Video Response. So instead of telling me what the problem is, next time something don,t sound right SHOW ME how it is suppose to be. Then I won't misunderstand. If you can't do it you most likely should do nothing....fair enough? Then I will do the same for you... Sincerly , William |

I don't think anyone will show you up. What I find most weird about the forum is that people will point out the faults to us no name guys, but never when one of the pro guys make a mistake. The even funnier thing is that the pros already know about it and would have a good laugh about it. I've had the opportunity to play some pretty good venues with some excellent pro pickers and talking about the mistakes is a humorous after the show topic. I suppose part of being a pro is to realize that you don't play perfect all the time, in fact not much of the time...... but, a pro always makes it work someway.
Come on people lighten up, this is music, entertainment, for the purpose of having fun. William sits down with his guitar and video camera and shares some new licks to old tunes. I'm sure if he wanted it to be studio quality, he would have went to a studio and had it professionally done. You Tube is a great for this stuff. Keep them coming William.

Rick,
You were able to take what I was thinking and put it into words.
I LOVE live music for just the reason you described. Everyone is human. I will always buy a live recording if I have a choice because I want to hear the mistakes and all. I also love you tube. |

Rick and Justin, both of you are right on. I will buy a LIVE album anyday over one cut in a studio. I REALLY enjoy every thing Mr. William does. BUT in defence of anyone that may critical of what he is doing in his first post he ASKED for that,so he could improve on anything he may be doing wrong. I CAN'T be critical because everything I've heard him do is a hell-a -fa lot BETTER than I could do it.Mr. William keep em coming. Me too, but I'd avoid overloaded and distorted ones. I like to hear the recorded sound - the music, and I can't see anything wrong with that.
William did put out a new, improved, recording, and that's all I was asking for so I could hear him play. Just to make sure I understand what's expected in these threads: was that asking for too much in any way? |
