Hub Kapp and the Wheels were true proto-punks.
The Wheels wore dark sunglasses, black berets and sullen expressions and adopted the punky pseudonyms Rip Kord (Condello), Ry Krysp (bassist Bob Dearborn) and Ty Klyp (drummer Rich Post). Occasionally they were joined on stage by fourth Wheel Terry Kloth (keyboardist Ted Harpchak).

Just came across this name thing (I'm slow on the uptake)
Nervous 'jazzer' steel player - 'SKID' MARKS
Swedish part time barman/steel player - LARS TORDERS
Fast Vietnamese steel player - 'PIK' BLOK
Newly wed female steel player Mrs TURNA ROUND nee LEVER
After the show inexperienced steel player introduces himself to experienced pro Yugoslav picker and says 'HOWDY- DEFIK DEDODAT' and asks him HOW THE bleep HE DID THAT!
French steel player and part time child molester - PIERRE DePHILE!
Steel player with bad breath - HAL.E.TOWSIS
Best ever Band name I've heard ( actually existed ) All decorators I reckon!
- 'MATT VINYL AND THE UNDERCOATS' (Marvellous)
That's enough for now..... Gus.

Years ago I was part of a duo called 'Novak and Goode'. Realising that we were still lacking something, we enlisted the aid of UK '50s singing star, Tommy Steele.
After that we were 'Steele Novak and Goode'......

I was the instigator in starting a local band that we called "The Rusty Spurs"......everybody was over 60.
The keyboard man always introduce me as the "Rusty Spur" then I had my back operated on and they removed the spurs from my spine.
Charlie gets great fun of telling about my operation and that I am now just "Rusty".......but he won't tell me how he means that.

I haven't kept up with all the post lately, but I think I like the sound of "Bud Picker" if know-one has used it.

Chief Engineer
Years ago, while playing at a fancy arabian horse breeders convention, one of the guys came across an arabian language phrase book. Now, because I was the one guy in the band that was always fixing things, I was considered the chief engineer, that is until we found that translates into:
Baashmoon Handeese
(Not sure of the spelling anymore, just sound it out.)

There's a minor character in a Thomas Pynchon novel named Dewey Gland. I've always been fond of that name but my wife doesn't think much of it. Another character in the same novel is named Sir Timothy Dodson-Truck. A guy could work around that one in all kinds of ways.
The Last of the World's Great Human Beings. Ok, well maybe one of the last. Oh alright then, a perfectly ordinary slacker.

Years ago I met a guitar player who's actual legal name was ... Lincoln Mercury.
As far as myself, I used to really be into the King Arthur legends and the band I was with, finding this out, started calling me Excalibur Steel. It was a nickname that stuck with me for a very long time and it still creeps up once in a while.
