Did anyone hear Amber make her Opry debut Saturday night? She sounded great! May be there is hope for the Opry.

I'm glad you brought that up David. I was just thinking this morning. IF Amber Digby IS trying to make it as recording artist and a "Star" and doesn't; this will be living proof that the country music industry at this time is a total sham! She is every bit as good (and better than most) of the so called superstars of today. Amber is paying her dues! I sure hope she can cash them in. Country music needs her! 'course that's just me.

GOOD has almost nothing to do with whether one becomes a star. There are many other hurdles to clear before anyone even CARES how GOOD they are. Besides, GOOD is relative and subjective.

Make no mistake about it, the music industry is only looking for one thing: WHAT SELLS. If it happens to also be GOOD, so be it, but the economics of the business deal is what counts. If the A&R guy thinks you will sell and the suits agree, you'll get a record deal. If not, you just join a whole slew of GOOD artists who never will get a deal.

That's my point! Talent has nothing much to do with success. Most of today's stars are manufactured based on what the suits think will bring the most revenue. If they have some talent, some much the better. Same as with hiring sidemen/women for some of the touring acts. "Can you play" is about the 4 th question asked. After age' looks, can you dance around and act like your playing, and will you accept $200 a week!
Ask Bobbe Seymore about some of the calls he gets.

Larry Speaks the truth(like usual).
I have been all over the world playing music and have been in and out of major record deals with folks I have played with. One thing I've learned in the last 25 years; is it does not matter if you can sing or play, that is waaaaaaaaay down on the list of you becoming successful.
You have to have some big-a$$ lips and willing to kiss any Butt; and piggy-back off who ever is scratching someones back or getting theirs scratched; all at the right time of someone willing to take you on; only if they think they can sell you as a person that looks like a model; great stage presence/sexy(jump around on stage like a circus character) and on and on from there.
These days; if you are not a teenage talor swift look-a-like; you won't stand a chance. Record companies in Nashville will have to close down; and the idiot record execs. that are there; have to move back to NY; and then and only then; there might be a chance that music would matter, but like Paul Franklin told me years ago; "Real Country music will never be a multi-million dollar industry, never has been and never will be"...
The music and how good you sing; just does not matter right now.

Record companies should just close down, period. The same with commercial radio and network broadcast television. All three killed country music and music in general.

If I were Texas, I wouldn't let it get away. Nobody seems to know what song she sang. It must be a secret. I've got all her CD's. Good music.

A great talent, and a good person. May or may not be what the Nasville exec's want, but what do they really know? Saw her at the Pick'n for Cure for Breast Cancer in Peal's in Forth Worth a few months ago. Whatever she sang, I sure it was great. That's my .02.

Thanks Dave. I've been trying to find out what she did. I tried to listen to the Opry that night, but the mountains didn't and the weather didn't want to cooperate. That's a great song. I've got her latest CD with it. It's one of my favorites on there, but it's hard to pick, they're all great.
