Florida Steel Guitar Club November 2009 Mtg/Jam

The Florida Steel Guitar Club's October 2009 Meeting/Jam will be Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, at 5:30PM. Location is Catfish Johnny's Restaurant, CR470, Lake Panasoffkee, Fl. (our regular Meeting/Jam place).
Come early and support Catfish Johnny's Restaurant before the jam.
The FSGC Club holds monthly Meetings/Steel Guitar Jams the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Lake Panasoffkee is exit 321 on I75, approximately 60 miles west of Orlando and about the same distance north of Tampa.

I dislocated my right hand pinky today and now have a splint on it that may hinder (or help)

Have a great start off season at Catfish Johnny's.

I won't be bringing my steel to the jam next week because of major back problems.
So I'd like to borrow a steel with E's Lowered RKL
for a couple of songs.
I think both Fred and Jim Price are set up that way.
I'm an old Shobud guy and just can't get used to the new setup LKR.

Don, if I get my Fessy in time to change it over, my E's will lower RKL. For some weird reason, the Emmons I learned on was set up that way and it's the only way I can play. I had so much fun last month and nobody threw anything, so I thought I'd come visit again. You need to get some of those neat T-shirts in XXX, though (or I need to lose my gut). See you Wednesday.

It's tough with that knee lever.
I had been playing over 25 years and tried to switch and after a couple of days I said some of my licks now are gone unless I change a couple of other knees
so I went back to RKL.

I've heard from Mike Bondz (Johnny Bondz's son) and he is planning on coming to the jam. Mike is an excellent drummer and has taken up steel. Mike played drums at one of our club steel shows (he had his electronic drums at the show). Johnny and Sue will also be there.

I doubt very much he'll get Jack's P/P
but he'll be a-lookin' and we'll wait and see what Ernie has next month.

We sure had a full house of players last night.
We had 16 players to play in just a 3 hour frame.

Unfortunately we may have to go back to a limit of players so that each player can have a decent amount of time to play.
We'll see how the winter snowbirders flock down to play and see what happens.
Our regular all season players have priority on playing as they keep the club going 12 months of the year with their support to the club and Johnny's restaurant.

Thanks so much to our band members we had 3 drummers three bass players a lead and rhythm player.
The FSGC is alive and well in it's 7th year and growing.

Limiting the number of pickers is something that is undesireable to do. We've always tried to accomodate everyone that shows up and wants to pick. But, that does severely limit the number of songs each gets to play. I know I wouldn't drive 100 miles (or however far) to only get to play two songs.

Some of the other clubs limit the number of pickers and/or have a sign up sheet with a "x" number cutoff. With the popularity of the monthly jam, it's something to think about.
