Questions about Peavey Valverb. I'm sure there's somebody out there that has used a Peavey Valverb. As I enjoy a spring reverb sound, I wanted to know the comparison to the reverb in the Fender Twin and are the tone controls fully functionable? Did they have any hum or hiss problems to them? How reliable are they? Any input on this would be appreciated. Am considering purchasing one. |

I've had a Valveverb since the early 90s and I really like it. It is big and warm with more control than a typical tube amp reverb. I have recently taken it out of storage to use in the effect loop of a Revelation pre-amp and it still sounds wonderful.
Producer/guitarist Pete Anderson had Valverbs in all of his rack equipment when he was on the road with Dwight Yoakam.
If you can get it for a good price, I would pick it up. Hope this helps.

I also have a Valveverb.
They are as scarce as hen's teeth!
If you have a chance to pick one up, I'd jump at it. |

The new Boss pedal that is supposed to sound like the '63 Fender Reverb outboard unit has been getting good reviews.

I have one that I use and I really like it. My teacher borrowed it and the next thing you know, he got one too. Well worth the investment. |

I guess I will have to be the only naysayer here.. I had 2 of them, and although the reverb was pretty lush and "tubey", I felt it colored the tone pretty badly.. IMHO, the took a lot of the sparkle out of the various non reverb vintage Fender head/ JBL cabs I used them with.. Made those amps sound more like the Peavey Classic series I am very familiar with having owned and played 6 different ones.
Now the Peavey Classics are fine amps in their own right, honestly... However that valverb gave my Fenders an eerily similar sound, that was not wanted... I banished them.. One guy liked it, the other said it made his amp sound like a Peavey...
I ran them into the inputs.. Perhaps they would work better in a loop? bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!
