Does anyone out there know Red Rhodes steel guitar tuning? On the Mike Nesmith DVD Live at the Britt, Red was playing a 10 string, 4 pedal guitar. I have no doubt he had played around with tunings.
Anyone??!?

According to Winston, the 4 ped tuning was Red's Eb6. (front)
Taken from a double neck, which had the first 3 ped for his Eb Diatonic neck (back)

Here's the 4 pedal tuning:
high to low:
F Bb G Eb C Bb G Eb C# Bb
LKL raise 4to F & 5 to C#
VERTICAL raise 5 to C# & 6 to B
LKR lower 6 to A
ped 4 raise 6 to C
Ped 5 raise 3&7 to G#
Ped 6 raise 4 to F & 5 to D
Ped 7 raise 3 to G#,lower 7 to F#,lower 9 to C,
lower 10 to G#
RKL raise 5 to C#, raise 8 to F
RKR lower 4 to D, and raise 9 to D

hope this helps

Just so I got this right and we are all on the same page, this was a single neck 10 string 4 pedal. No wonder I have such a hard time figuring out his songs. I'm a real Nez/Red fan from the 70's. Grew up in Orange County CA, so I got to see them a lot at Disneyland and Knotts Berrie Farm (the old John Wayne theater)any where I could. Maybe it's time to get another steel to play around with. Blackie Taylor told me about all the odd pickups he would come up with, like making a stereo pickup by making ever other winding go left side, right side, etc. BTW, where did this info come from?
Thanks, Steven

Thank you Rick for taking the time to type that tuning for me. Where did you get this info? Did he ever just use the standard Nashville C6 and E9? I am curious what tuning (s) he used when working with Michael Nesmith which I consider some of the greatest work ever, you really have to sit down and listen to the songs, wonderful!
Thanks again, anymore info would be great.

More Red Rhodes questions

Does anyone know what kind of pickup he was using, like I said before, I was told he messed around with pickups all the time. AND, anything else that would help me get that sound of his, which I just love.
Thanks again for any help
