http://www.surprisesoundlab.com/ is the web site for the Rock Block amp/pedal. That's a lot of money for one watt of power, but I'm sure it's a very nice watt. :)

I have had good luck with my Bugera V5. All tube. Class A. Sounds good!! ( I did change the speaker.) Gain, Volume, Tone AND Reverb controls. It also has a power attenuator switch on the rear that allows you to run 5, 1 or 0.1 Watts. headphone out jack on the rear also. Nice little portable amp. Looks good too!

G, why did you change the speaker in your Bugera and what did you put in it?
Thanks.

Mark,
I wasn't happy with stock speaker.... switched to a Weber. A lot smoother and a little bit more compressed now.

My vote is for the Blues Junior if you play hot and nasty....I take it and a MSA Superslide with Wallace Trutone pickup to loud blues and R&B jams and it holds its own and is easy to transport and set up. HOWEVER, clean and smooth is not available....
Zumsteel U12 8-5, MSA M3 U12 9-7, MSA SS 10-string, 1930 National Resonophonic, Telonics Combo, Webb 614e, Fender Steel King, Mesa Boogie T-Verb.

How'd this get by the forum category enforcement squad :-) ? It sounds like "Electronics" to me...

Maybe so, Craig... but this is pretty specific to lap guys since the amps are not used by PSG guys. We get a little latitude on things like this.

Any reviews on the Swart Space Tone Reverb Tweed?

5 watts. Cool retro design. Class A. All hand wired.

It doesn't get any better than this:
http://www.mackamps.com/gem-head-combo/

From 4W down to 0.4W, with low-hi gain option, volume/tone/gain knobs. Comes as a head or as a combo (I have the combo). The combo is a 14" x 16" cab with an Eminence Rajin' Cajun as it's 10" speaker. This amp does clean and grit equally well and it loves pedals.

Absolutely, a first-rate amp for lap steelers, whether you want squeaky clean or a "dirtied up" sound.

Listen to the sound clips on the Mack site...plus a guitarist did a vid clip of the amp too.

Gerald.....the Swart 5W amps are highly regarded and have stellar reviews. Quite frankly, it was either the Swart or Mack Gem for me. The Swart has a tube rectifier, the Mack doesn't....but the Mack gave a lot more variety (4W to 0.4W) than the Swart. You can't go wrong with either amp really.
