My recently purchased Dekley is 29 years old today.
Completed on Oct 21st 1980. I have all the original paperwork manuals etc. that came with the guitar. Due to its pristine condition its amazing that it is 29 years old, looks like it is still New. |

Congratulations John! Does your paperwork happen to have my name on it? I left Dekley and moved to Texas in November of 1980, so yours was probably one of the last ones I did the final assembly on.

Joe Casey is a old forum buddy thatI have been acquainted with for about 10 years. In fact we have never met face to face, but we talk almost every day. Our Common buddy is Smiley Roberts. I knew Smiley in Nashville in the 70's. I looked for your name on the paperwork because Joe has told me about you. I couldn't find any names on any of it. It is Serial # 210 - 0099. Even the case looks brand new. It looks like this guitar has sat for most of its 29 years in the case in somebodys closet. This guitar could have sold for Brand New when I received it. I am just thrilled about getting this guitar in this condition. This is the deal that everybody dreams about, getting a under the bed guitar this age. Actually it doesn't even show any wear on the case that would indicate that it even sat under somebody's bed or in their closet, probably more like it was in its original box stored away carefully..
Joe told me that the pickups were made by Bill Lawerence, Is That True? I can believe it because the tone is super, I can't see any need for aftermarket pickups. I Would like to add some pedals and knee levers to load it out completely. If I can find Original parts. I don't want to add anything to the guitar that would appear as aftermarket.
I am interested in starting a Dekley forum as an information resource for Dekley owners if you would be interested in contributing information and tips.
It doesn't cost all that much and I have plenty of Web space.

There could very well be Bill Lawrence pickups in there now, but the original pickups were designed by Bob Dekam and wound for us in the Springfield, Mass. area.
Not sure how much I could add or how much interest there would be in a Dekley forum, but I'll be glad to help if I can. |

The Pickups Look Original and They are wound to 20.07 K ohms for C6 and 17.44 for E9. I don't think they have been changed.

I have the Domain Name Dekley.com and I will be buying the forum software soon. It will be a forum site where members have to provide a Serial Number to register and become members to post, all others will be guests with view only priviledges.
