I noticed a change in steels between the performances. That boy is a pretty good player.

That's Canadian Bob Lucier. Fabulous player. He did some things with Anne Murray, et al. Don't know anything about the band there. Judging by the name and all, I'd guess they originated out of Canada. I know George Hamilton hosted some tv programs out of there as well.

The speaker says that Bob Lucier plays on a 16 string steelguitar! First time I have sen one of them! Is there anyone who know the history of this guitar?

Sorry Bob. You are wrong. The Sho-Bud in the video has got 16 strings. Look at 31 seconds in the video and you can count the strings. 8 pair of strings!

The Guitar he uses on the song Whiskey River is a moss green Sho-Bud.
But the one on the instrumental has a maple frame and I think this is the one Uffe is refering to.
This one has a certain similarity to the sound of a twelve string standard guitar, (which is strung up with unison and/or octave strings in pairs).
Also George Hamilton mentions it at the beginning.

At Al Brisco SteelGuitarCanada you can find this cassette. I guess this is evidence that the 16 string Sho-Bud exist.

Bob was also the staff player on the Tommy Hunter Show that ran for many years on the CBC. Before that, Bob played with Bill Anderson's Po' Boys band.
Although it looks like Bob is retired from the active life he had a few years back, he operates a cabinet shop in Burlington, Ont., where he lives.
Of late, he has recorded a couple of instrumental albums together with his long time friend and band member, Mel Aucoin, in Mel's recording studio in Owen Sound, Ont. Bob plays a Fulawka nowadays and say that it produces the ultimate sound for him.
