Sorry to hear this, Philip. This guy is a scammer of the highest order, and was pulling some notorious stuff here and on Ebay a while back. Apparently he may have some sort of alzhiemers or something, but still...a relative should be monitoring his actions if that's the case.

It would help to have a sticky here in the ads with the names of risky people. There aren't many, but I can think of one or two whom everyone should be warned about. I guess this is good incentive to deal just with forum members, and not to include your email or phone number on the ad.

I know from the other post that everyone seems to want to let this guy off as a nut, but it has to stop somewhere. It's time to either correct it or call the local police and have him busted for fraud.

Philip, I sure hate to hear about something like this happening on the Forum! I have never sold anything, but I have purchased a few things, and if its not a lot of money, it's often easier to send cash. More often than not I get my purchase before I know the payment has arrived. Trust means a lot to some of us, and I've allways felt I could trust most of the SGF members, what's the world comming to?

Sorry you got burned, Phillip.

Your buyer is not a Forum member and could not have contacted you if you didn't post your name and number.

Scammers get kicked off the Forum, but they can continue to scam if sellers want to risk dealing with them.

I have dealt with Phil and he's a good guy to do business with, I hope it all works out for you, however I think I was scammed by a forum member from Denham Springs, LA. I won't mention names YET he has said he sent payment once, it never arrived, he did promise the money several times but I'm not holding my breath. It has been three months. Better luck to you Phil.

ROBERT DARDEMAN ASKED ME TO MAKE A PUBLIC APOLOGY,, HERE ON THE FORUM TO HIM FOR MAKING THIS UNPAID PROBLEM PUBLIC HERE ON THE FORUM ,, SO ,, THE TUNER WAS IN LIKE NEW WORKING CONDITION WHEN I MAILED IT ,,AND IT WAS WORKING WHEN I TALKED HIM THRU HOW TO USE IT AND PULL UP THE PRESET PEDAL STEEL TUNINGS OVER THE PHONE WITH HIM ,, NOW HE SAID IT DONT WORK ,AND I SENT HIM A BROKEN TUNER ,, BUT THE OTHER DAY HE SAID HE COULD GET ONE CHEAPER AND OFFERED TO GIVE ME HALF OF OUR AGREED UPON SALE PRICE ,, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO MAIL A CHECK A WEEK AGO ,,HE WAS GOING TO USE PAYPAL A COUPLE TIMES THIS WEEK,HE WAS GOING TO MAIL IT BACK ,, AND NOW HE SAID ITS BROKE AND IT IS STILL NOT MAILED BACK

SO ROBERT (BOBBY)DARDEMAN ,,, I AM NOW MAKING A PUBLIC APOLOGY HERE ON THE FORUM AS YOU ASKED ,,
NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO COMPLETE THIS APOLOGY IS USE YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND MAKE A DONATION TO THE FORUM FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE TUNER AND SHIPPING FOR $185 THAT YOU NEVER PAID ME AND EVERYTHING WILL BE COOL ,, AND YOU WILL LOOK LIKE A STAND UP GUY IN FRONT OF YOUR PEERS HERE ON THE PEDAL STEEL FORUM
AND I'LL SHAKE YOUR HAND ,, AND SAY MISTER I'M SORRY
.... ... OR YOU CAN MAIL IT BACK TO ME AND I'LL MAKE THE DONATION FOR YOU ... WE ALL WANT TO BE PROUD OF YOU ... SHOW US ...

THANK YOU ROBERT (BOBBY)DARDEMAN

This is the danger of publicly posting your contact information. On one hand, it allows legitimate buyers who aren't members to contact you. On the other hand, it opens you up to crooks like Dardeman.

That guy is really bad news. I kicked him off of the forum a couple of years ago because of deals gone bad. I block all emails from him.

bOb you are right, but the way I look at it there has to be trust on both sides. A guy sends me funds trusting me that I'll ship him what he's ordered so I usually ship his item trusting him when he says he's sent payment. MHO
